DeNami Design Product Spotlight, Diploma

Today is product spotlight over at DeNami Design. The design team is showcasing Diploma by having a DeNami blog hop. You should've arrived at my blog from Lisa Petrella's blog. If you visit each design team members blog and leave a comment along the way, you will be eligible to win this stamp! You can also add this fabulous stamp to your shopping cart and save 10%, one week only.

The inspiration for my card came from this card from former DeNami DT member, Laurie. When I saw her stripes, I knew I wanted to ink up Three Line Border for my background. I inked up Diploma, colored it in with my copics and then trimmed it out. I stamped my Congratulations sentiment on a white panel that I adhered on an angle. I tucked in a piece of some PTI saddle stitch ribbon and added my diploma with foam adhesive. I love the simplicity of this card. It kind of reminds me of a clipboard.

Well that is all from me today.

Wendy is your next stop!

DeNami Inspired by Tina

Hello my friends! I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far.  Today I have a card to share with you for this month's DeNami Inspired by post. Today the design team and I are sharing our creations inspired by Tina M.. You can find her original card here.

For my card, I wanted to go with a graphic feel. So I embossed my white cardstock with my Chevron EF and layered it over my white cardbase slightly off. Next I inked Double Note in gray ink in a random pattern. Instead of forming a rectangle,  I trimmed my stamped piece at an angle. Then I stamped Hello Friend in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I attached it to the cardfront. Then using my star boarder die on some black cardstock I adhered them to cover the edges. Lastly I added some Silver Stars from Pretty Pink Posh using Crystal Lacquer.

Don't forget to stop by the DeNami blog to see what the rest of the design team has created. Thanks for stopping by!

Final layout: Your Room

Hi friends! So this is it...the last layout to share for my son's baby album. Honestly, I am not super pleased with how this page turned out, but I am happy to have completed the layout for his album. This is the second page of this layout.

I have been using the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby kit. The 12x12 paper is actually divided into thirds with one third being blue. I laid my photos and other blue strip of paper over it to hide the line. The title was cut with my Silhouette, the stars are from PTI Star Prints, and the brown cardstock is Bazzill. I described the details of his room on the journal tabs that are on the opposite page. I must say that I have loved using my Cricut and Silhouette to decorate his room, although my Cricut has been collecting a little dust lately since my Silhouette arrived. I love them both, though.

DeNami Design Up, Up and Away blog hop

Hello friends and welcome to the DeNami Design Sky's the Limit blog hop. I hope you have found tons of inspiration along the way. DeNami has such a variety of stamps to fit this theme, it was difficult to choose which stamps to use.

You are at the last two stops along the hop. You should've arrived from  Rachel's  blog. If you get lost, you can head back to the DeNami Design blog for a full list of participants.

Next up along the hop is my precious daughter, Leah. This is what Leah had to say about her card:

"On the picture, you'll see violet that is magic from the fairy chickie. It is sending the kite back down because it is charging at her. The balloons all have the same design because they are all bought at aqua, chocolate brown red heart. And her husband doesn't have wings because he was born out of a normal chickie and his wife was born out of a fairy chickie. So when it's her birthday, he has to ride in a hot air balloon to come. And her  husband lives on ground and his wife lives in the sky. And that is what I have to say about my card."

To create her card, she inked up Flower Fairy Chickie, Small cloud, Balloon Trio, Fly A Kite and Chickie in Balloon. She colored her images using my copics. Pretty soon she is going to need a set of her own. She loves to go over to the wall where I have my copic sheet hanging and pick out her colors.

So your last stop along the Sky's the Limit hop is me. It was difficult to choose which stamps to use. I really wanted to use some of my older stamps that I haven't inked up in a while, but I went with using a bit of old with the new.

For my card, I inked up Rainbow and colored it in with copics. Then using my quickie glue pen, I applied it to the red and sprinkled on some Ruby Red glitter. The  next color I actually colored in with a yellow copic, but sprinkled on some Champagne glitter. This made it a muted orange. The next band of the rainbow was colored in green, but then tuned a bit yellow after sprinkling on some Citron glitter. Lastly, I used some Aquamarine glitter on my blue band.

I stamped Small Cloud twice on a separate piece of cardstock and trimmed them out with scissors. I stamped my sentiment Count Your Rainbows. Then I attached my clouds using foam adhesive. I added my image panel to some blue cardstock to finish off my card.

Don't forget about the THREE gift certificates that will be given away! One gift certificate will go to a random participant and TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop! You have until May 19, 2014 11:59pm PST to comment and be eligible.

Thanks for stopping by!

First Home

TGIF! I hope you have had a great week. Today I am popping in with a layout that I created for my son's baby album.
I have been using the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby Kit. This page is a part of the "beginning" part of the kit. It includes the journal pocket and journal cards. The thing that I love about this kit is the journal cues that are included. I honestly wouldn't have thought about some of these details to share, so I think that is spectacular. Everything on this page is from the kit. Fairly simple and to the point. Although I love these journal cards and the chipboard circle titles, they kind of limit the design of some of the pages. Oh well. Sometimes the details are more important.

I have actually completed the second page of this layout, but plan to share it another day. So I have officially finished his baby album layouts. The remaining part of the album is to complete the time capsule page. This is laid out like the current project life style. So to me, it is not technically a layout. There are other journaling bits/milestones that I need to put down on paper. The kits comes with these monthly pages about the size of the journal card you see on this page. So it's just a matter of getting them written down in the album.

DeNami Design Product Spotlight, Little Fawn

Hello friends! Today is product spotlight over at DeNami Design. The design team is showcasing LIttle Fawn. You can add this fabulous stamp set to your shopping cart and save 10%, one week only.

I started off with a rustic cream cardbase. Then I trimmed some patterned paper to fit. I diecut some more rustic cream cardstock using my tag die and then stamped Little Fawn  and You're A Deer with Rich Cocoa Memento ink. I trimmed off the top portion of the die and then adhered it to the card front using my ATG. I tied a double bow using my wrinkle ribbon and added a brown border to the bottom using my heart border die. Lastly I added some clear Pretty Pink Posh sequins with some Crystal Lacquer.

Well, that is all I have to share today. Please stop by the DeNami Design blog to see what the rest of the DT has created.

Happy Mother's Day, Marsha!

I am back today as promised. Yesterday I shared the card I gave my twin sister for Mother's Day. Today I am sharing the card I am giving my mother-in-law. As I mentioned before, I really like This week's CAS(E) this Sketch! #75.

For my card, I started off using some PTI Soft Stone cardstock. I ran a scrap piece through my cuttlebug using Tag Sale #5. I inked up Mums the Word from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. I used the two smaller floral images in versamark on the tag, but they don't show well in the photo. Then I inked up the sentiment in Smokey Shadow. I trimmed off the top portion of the die and stitched it to the cardfront with my sewing machine. Lastly, I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins. I also used another sentiment from Mums the Word for the inside of the card.

This card is for my mother-in-law, Marsha. She is truly an amazing woman. You see, when I was only 3 years old, I lost my father and grandfather. So I was raised by my mother and grandmother. In 2004, my mother lost a 3 year battle to ovarian cancer and in 2006, my grandmother passed away due to complications from pneumonia. So my husband's parents are the only living parents I have. The love and support they showed me through the loss of my family was nothing short of amazing.

They have always lived about 30 minutes from us. After the birth of our daughter, they came to visit us almost every Saturday. Leah turns 7 this summer, so that adds up to a lot of Saturdays! You would think by now that they would've worn out their welcome. But quite the contrary. My mother-in-law has always lent a hand to help watch the kids or pick up lost toys around the house. She has listened to me and encouraged me through situations at work. Despite major shoulder surgery last year, she still continued to do what she always did. Almost 2 years ago, my in-laws moved about 5 minutes away. And now that my mother-in-law is retired, she has us come over once a week for dinner. A welcome break to my weekday cooking!

My mother-in-law has made me feel so welcome and a part of the family, just as if I was her own daughter. Marsha, thank you for being an incredible mother to me and your son and an incredible grandmother to your grandchildren. We are blessed beyond measure!

I love you, Mom!

Happy {early} Mother's Day!

I know, I know. It's only Saturday and Mother's Day isn't for another day. But this card will be in the recipient's hands today, so I thought I might as well share. I also have another scheduled post for tomorrow for my mother-in-law so I wanted to keep these cards/posts separate.

I am so excited to be able to link up and play along with this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! #75. I am a bit smitten with this sketch because I created this card a while back which I really loved and it had a similar design. So in a weird way, I get to CASE myself. Thanks for the awesome sketch, N@Ali .

For my card, I started with some DeNami white cardstock. I used my Martha Stewart score pal to create the diagonal lines. Then I inked up Camera  from DeNami Design and trimmed it out with scissors. Then I inked up  You're Special from Thoughtful Greetings petite four. I trimmed out another piece of white cardstock that was large enough for the image and then I attached the camera to the banner using foam adhesive. I used my ATG to adhere it to the cardfront and then added some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

The Happy Mother's Day sentiment is on the inside of the card. You may be wondering why this Mother's Day card would have a camera image on the front. Well, that's because my sister is a photography hobbyist. I try to learn as much from her as I can. Now whether I can find the time to practice myself is a different story. She started this hobby after bringing home her son from China. I have watched her grow in leaps and bounds in her photography skills. If you want a glimpse of how she can take simple things in life and turn it into something amazing, you can visit her blog here. She has taught me to embrace the simple things.

Thanks sis, for being an AMAZING mother to your children. I love you like crazy cakes. Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Birthday sis!

Today I want to wish my sweet twin sister a very Happy Birthday!!! I love you, Eva!!!!!! We will actually celebrate our birthday together tomorrow since her family will be heading to our neck of the woods on Saturday. It's great that we only live 1 hour and 30 minutes from each other. We do wish is was closer, but for a short time she lived 10 hours away! Btw, she is wearing the striped shirt and I am in the solid shirt. Unfortunately we only have two photos of the two of us together in the last 10 months. Yikes!

After my term as a Girl Friday ended in February, I wanted to spend some time finishing up some other crafty projects. I am happy to report that I am oh so close to finishing my son's baby album. Meanwhile, I have been itching to play along with the last few CAS-ual Fridays challenges, since this blog challenge is where I found my crafting niche. Thanks, Michele!

For the current CAS-ual Fridays challenge, we are to create a CAS card using three of something on a third of your card. For my card, I chose to use 3 elements: sentiment, image and embellishment, all in 3 different colors. I used each of these 3 times and I placed it all on the bottom third of my card. I hope I understood the rules right. The stamps are from DeNami Design and the sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh. Anyway, this card is for my dear sister!

Happy Birthday girl!

Mom Says and Dad Says

Happy Wednesday friends! I hope you are having a good week so far. I  am popping in with a couple of layouts.

These two pages are a part of the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby kit. The papers and chipboard come with the kit. I used Photoshop to create the smaller pictures to fit perfectly in the squares. I tried to choose some random pictures over Joshua's first year. The center pictures we took when he was only 3 weeks old and the 4x6 photos were our first Mother's Day and Father's Day with him. As you can tell from the journaling, daddy seems to have a bit less to say. lol.

Only 2 pages left until his album is complete. Yay! Since starting my blog I have posted every layout I completed from his baby album and also from Leah's school album. I finished Leah's baby album before I started blogging so I feel like I should share a bit from her album at some point. If time permits, then I will do that.

Have a great rest of the week. I will be back Friday with a special card to share.

National Scrapbooking Day, Pages with Papertrey

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!! I am jumping up and down over here! This year I actually have something to share. Yay!!!

If you follow my blog, then you know I have been working on my son's baby album. The end is close. Aaaaagh!!!

As I was putting together this page, I decided that I would play along with Pages with Papertrey sketch #22. Originally I was only going to have one photo on this page, but I felt like it was lacking something. So this sketch was great.

It doesn't go perfectly with the sketch, since the 12x12 patterned paper came that way from the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby kit. This page is opposite the monthly spread I shared a few days ago. Joshua had recently turned a year old and I also bought a remote shutter release for my camera. So I propped it up on a tripod and let Leah press the release button. She had such a fun time taking these pictures of us.

The center strip of patterned paper is from the kit along with the chipboard accent. I inked up PTI's Star Prints, Just the Ticket, FF#5, and Boy Basics: Grunge me (all used on the tickets). I used Tag Sale #3 for my journaling and the smile is a rub-on from the kit.

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapbooking!

Happy Belated 40th Birthday

Hello friends! I am popping in today with a card that I created for a dear friend of mine. She and I were roommates while we were in college and a few years thereafter. She recently turned forty and since I did not have a special 40th birthday card in my stash, I quickly made one for her. Since it took me a few days to get around to making her card, it became a belated birthday card.

So I inked up CAS-ual Fridays, WTF and used a bunch of appropriate sentiments. This card is completely one layer and just perfect for mailing. I have been trying to challenge myself this year to create more one layer cards, so I think I am making progress.

Also, since we are on the topic of birthdays, my twin sister and I will be celebrating a week from today. I created her card to play along with the current CAS-ual Fridays challenge, but I cannot post it yet since she faithfully reads my blog. Love ya sis!

Have a great weekend!
