Pages with Papertrey, Use a negative die

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all have had a nice and relaxing weekend. I was lucky enough to have Friday off from work. This meant that I got to meet my little girl for lunch. I try to meet her at least once a month. We have such a fun time chatting over peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches. After lunch, I was able to quickly put together this layout for Pages with Papertrey 15: Use the negative die cut for your layout. I used a sketch from Got Sketches which you can find here.

All of the elements except the cream border are from the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby kit. Since Leah's Easter dress had pink flowers in it, I thought it would be fun to incorporate some pink into Joshua's baby album. It is an Easter layout, right? So I chose colors that went with her dress. I used PTI's Turning a New Leaf die on the yellow graph paper to allow the green polka dots to show through. I layered a die cut flower from Beautiful Blooms #2 and added an epoxy sticker from the kit for the center. For the title, I used PTI's Angled Labels and added some letter rub ons from the kit. To the right I added a metal clip with another epoxy sticker. And lastly, I used an old EK Success border punch on the cream cardstock.

This layout came together for me pretty quickly, just a couple of hours. That is quite a feat for me since I can mull over a layout for days most of the time. Yay for the little things! I have about 10 pages left of Joshua's baby album and I still have a goal to finish before the end of the year. That means I need to do about 3 pages a month. That is honestly a lot for me to do, but it is still possible. We shall see.

DeNami Design Product Spotlight, Pretty Paisley

Hi friends! I hope that you are having a good week so far. Today is product spotlight over at DeNami Design. The design team is showcasing Pretty Paisley by having a DeNami blog hop. You should've arrived at my blog from Lisa Petrella's blog. If you visit each design team members blog and leave a comment along the way, you will be eligible to win this stamp! You can also add this fabulous stamp to your shopping cart and save 10%, one week only.

I created my card back when I was creating for the Krazy for Kraft blog hop. I was having so much fun trying new things with kraft. I especially loved using my copics. So I inked up Pretty Paisley in Rich Cocoa Memento ink in a repeating pattern and colored it in. For my sentiment, I inked up Dropping You a Note and Double Circle that I cut out with my circle nestie and attached with foam adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave a comment on each blog to be eligible to win!

Wendy is your next stop!

CAS-ual Fridays, Fall color and a Leaf

Hello friends! I know that it has been a while since I've posted. I haven't been in my craftroom much lately because I have been super busy trying to catch up on some household projects, getting organized, etc. When you get bitten by the organizing bug, it's kind of hard to stop. The results are motivating and I wish there were more hours in the day to accomplish my tasks. But like the movie "What About Bob?", I've got to take baby steps.

Now on to my card, which is the reason why you came to visit today. The challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a clean and simple project using fall colors and a leaf.

Our sponsor this week is  SimonSaysStamp. The winner of this challenge will earn a $25 gift certificate.

For my card, I used a previous sketch created by previous Girl Friday, Laurie, that can be found here. It is one of my favorites. I think this sketch is perfect for repeat stamping. I used Solid Leaves (cling) from DeNami Design and stamped it with versamark. I added Thinking of you (cling) in Rich Cocoa Memento ink. I finished it off with some Desert Orange/white twine from my Autumn twine pack.

Well, that is all for me today. I do hope you find some time to play along. The challenge ends on Thursday October 3rd at noon. Thanks for stopping by!

DeNami Product Spotlight, Friendly Robot

I am back again today with a card to share with you for DeNami's  product spotlight, Friendly Robot. This little stamp is so fun and perfect for the little ones in your life. You can head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the design team has created. Add this stamp set to your cart and save 10%, one week only.
I wanted to create a card using some bright colors. I used my Silhouette Cameo to create a cut file for this image and colored it in with my copics. I added some Red graph washi tape for the robots to stand on. They are all lined up to say Hello. I have been using my Word bubbles a ton lately. They are the perfect way to add a simple sentiment and are so trendy.

Well, that is it for me today. I hope you have a wonderful day!

A day to remember and a birthday wish

For us Americans, today marks the 12th anniversary of the collapse of the World Trade Centers. In talking with my co-workers yesterday, we remember exactly what we were doing when the day's events unfolded. Our prayers are with all of those whose lives were affected.

Today is also my husband's birthday. Happy Birthday, Andy! I made him a card to celebrate his special day. My hubby is an accountant by day and a musician by night. He plays several string instruments and can rock out on the drums too. When I saw the DeNami fall release this year, I just knew that I had to have that Rock Band Chickie stamp along with the You Rock! sentiment.

I created my card to play along with the current Retro Sketches challenge.  Life gets so busy, that I hardly have a chance to play along with challenges. So happy to have created a card with a current challenge and not just because I found a great sketch. lol! I used some CAS-ual Fridays paper by Gina K. Designs, the black button is from my Halloween boutique pack and some Denim twine from the Twinery.

Since my DeNami cardstock is scored on the left, I used my exacto knife to cut an opening to pull my twine through. And for some reason, the tension keeps pulling that button to the side. Oh well. I don't think my hubby will mind.

Stay tuned to the blog for my second post today for DeNami's product spotlight. Thanks for stopping by!

DeNami Design Blog Hop, Krazy for Kraft

Hi everyone! Welcome to the DeNami Design, Krazy for Kraft blog hop. I am the first stop along the hop, so grab some coffee and settle in for a fabulous time. If you get lost along the way, head back to the DeNami blog for a full list of participants.
For my card, I wanted to stamp directly onto kraft and only use kraft paper. Since I use white as a cardbase a ton, I really wanted to challenge myself. I think I succeeded! I inked up Sold Leaves (cling) in red, yellow and orange ink. Then I inked up Happy Thanksgiving in Rich Cocoa Memento ink. To create the angles on my card, I used a technique by Maile Belles found here. I thought about adding a button or sequins or some twine, but simply called it done.

Your next stop along with hop is the talented Tenia. This girl can rock DeNami stamps, so I can't wait to see what she has in store for us.

Don't forget about the THREE gift certificates that will be given away! One gift certificate will go to a random participant and TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop! You have until September 9, 2013 11:59pm PST to comment and be eligible.

Happy hopping!

Pages with Papertrey, Family time

TGIF! It's been a long work week for me, despite the holiday. Whew! I am back, as promised, with the second half of a layout for Pages with Papertrey.

Today's layout it for Sketch 16. I took the liberty to tweak the placement for the title and journaling to fit my needs. I added the same background stamping to the kraft cardstock to match the second half of this two page layout. Although this album is full of 2 page layouts, I guess I can officially say that I have played along with Challenge 18: Create a 2 page layout.

I used stickers from the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby kit for the title, along with my Silhouette Cameo. The diagonal red stripe washi tape reminds me of candy canes, ya think? I added some more glittered buttons. There aren't really many opportunities to add glitter to boy scrapbook pages, but I think Christmas layouts are perfect for this. The red patterned paper is from a huge DCWV Christmas pack and the green paper is from the Becky Higgins kit. I added the subtitle using PTI's Label Basics for the diecut and Signature Christmas. I thought it was perfect since the photo on the left is of Joshua celebrating his first New Year's Eve. The final touch was adding some machine stitching to the polka dot paper.

Well, that's all for today. Stay tuned to the blog for some more kraft since the DeNami blog hop is tomorrow! See you then!

CAS-ual Fridays, Back to School

Hi friends! I am so sorry that I am tardy on this post. I guess I am not doing so well with the back to school thing, huh?

The challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a clean and simple back to school project.  Our sponsor this challenge is Ellen Hutson. The winner of this challenge will earn a $25 store credit.

For my project I used some products by Papertrey Ink. I stamped the Library card image onto my notebook die. Then I used Limitless layers and Tag-its #6 to create the main image. I added some Mister Huey spray mists and then attached it to my glassine bag using some graph washi tape from DeNami Design. I tucked a box of crayons inside the bag. A sweet little gift bag for my daughter.

I hope you are adjusting to "back to school". You will have two weeks to participate in this challenge. The deadline to play along is noon on September 18th. I can't wait to see what you create!

DeNami Pin-spired, September

For my American followers, did you have an enjoyable Labor Day weekend? We certainly did. My hubby's coworker had a huge party at her place. The kids got to go swimming and we ate lots and lots! Today I have a card to share with you for DeNami Design, Pin-spired. Our inspiration photo is full of some fabric yumminess. Where do I begin?

For my card, I chose to keep a white cardbase to allow the gorgeous colors to take center stage.  I was inspired by the colorful stripes and floral focal point. I knew instantly that I wanted to use Ornamental Centerpieces (cling). I colored it in using my copics and punched it out with my 1 3/4in circle punch. I added Hello Friend for my sentiment which I flanked with some Silver Rhinestones. Pretty simple yet elegant.

Please be sure to stop by the DeNami blog to see what the rest of the design team has created!

Pages with Papertrey

Hello friends! I mentioned about 2 weeks ago, that I had a tiny bit more time on my hands to work on some projects. I am bound and determined to finish my son's baby album before the holiday season is upon us. So I have a layout to share with you for Pages with Papertrey.

This layout started off as Sketch 17, but then I realized quickly that I could stamp my own background and fulfill two challenges since Challenge 13 is to create a layout without using patterned paper . Love that!

I inked up PTI's Peace Be Still snowflakes with Vintage Cream ink onto some kraft cardstock. Then I layered my pictures onto some Rustic Cream cardstock. For the title,  I inked up Mini Scrapbook Series: Library Ledger with Vintage Cream ink onto the second side of some green patterned paper from the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby  kit. I also used stickers from the kit. I did the same thing to some Pure Poppy cardstock that is in the bottom right corner.

The red ribbon is Pure Poppy saddle stitch and the polka dot is from the kit. While adding/making my embellishments for the page, I decided to add some glittered buttons to enhance the Christmas feel of the page. This happens to be Challenge 17, which is to add a Make-it-Monday technique. I used my Silhouette to cut out some Tabbed folders (5834) out of Spring Moss paper and I used Mini Scrapbook series for the date and info as well as my own handwriting (ugh- I am not a fan). The bottom photo has a clear acetate from the kit, which is why you see the reflection of my shirt in the left side of the photo. Oops. The monthly chipboard accent is also from the kit.

Thanks to my sweet and fantabulous sister for taking these pictures. If you look at the handmade tag on the present, that was actually my first paper publication! I will have the second half of this layout to share with you later this week. So stay tuned to the blog. Have a great week!
