CAS-ual Fridays, Congratulations

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week. I know that the blog has been quiet this last week, but I have managed to find some time to create a few things in my craftroom: a few cards, a couple of layouts and even a super simple sewing project. Wow, I can't believe it myself.

So my card for today is for CAS-ual Fridays. The challenge is to create a clean and simple project with a congratulatory theme.

Our fabulous sponsor is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. The winner of this challenge will win a stamp set of their choice.

To create my card, I used a medallion made from vintage book print that was left over from another project. Love that! I die cut my angled rectangle and inked up Amazeballs from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps in kraft ink. The sentiment is from Countdown.

I created my card with a very special person in mind. This is for my friend, Margaret. After 25+ years of working as a Respiratory Therapist, she is finally retiring. We worked in the same department for 9 years before it closed. She has been there for me from the very start. She had a rockin' time at my wedding, gave me a shoulder to cry on when my mother and grandmother passed away, and has said many prayers for my children.

Here she is wearing fuschia at my wedding.

Margaret with another coworker and friend.

This was taken before she needed surgery. She anticipated the pain to be very bad, so she wanted to have a lot of pain meds. She wanted the nurses to know that her pain was a 10/10 without having to say a word. If you are in the medical field, then you will find it quite funny.

Margaret, it was such a joy to work with you. You have taught everything I need to know! Let's celebrate your retirement!!!

CAS-ual Fridays, Red white and blue

Happy Friday, friends!! If you are living in the states, then I hope you get the chance to enjoy the long weekend. In honor of Memorial Day on Monday, the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a clean and simple project using red, white and blue. I think this is my first ever red, white and blue creation.

The winner of this week's challenge will win a $25 gift certificate from SimonSaysStamp.

For my card, I inked up the solid swoosh from Breath, alternating red and blue onto my cardfront. Then I inked up my sentiment from Bold Wishes onto another panel and tied on some Papertrey Ink Baker's twine. I adhered it to the cardbase with foam tape. I just love seeing that red and blue on white!

I hope you can find a little crafty time this weekend join in on the fun. You have until noon on Thursday to link up and play. I can't wait to see what you create!

For the inside of my card, I inked up the confetti and Class of sentiment. I made this card for my daughter in her school colors of purple and blue since she is graduating Kindergarten. I can hardly believe that in 1 week, her first year of school will be over. Sigh.

DeNami Fresh Florals blog hop

Welcome to the DeNami Design Fresh Florals blog hop. You should've arrive here from Deb's blog. Just in case you get lost along the way, you can always head back to the beginning.

My card was created using the inspiration colors for the current Play Date Cafe Challenge. I used some Red cardstock for my cardbase. Then I inked up Rosebud Trio onto some White cardstock and colored them in with my copics. I added some darker maroon shading to them. Although I did not have the perfect shade of soft jade for my leaves, I colored them in with one of my blue copics. Trust me when I say that I tried several variations of blending with my greens and blues to achieve soft jade, but I had no luck. Fortunately for me, I pulled out my Aqua Boutique buttons and found the perfect one for my card. I added some baker's twine and stamped my Thinking of you (cling) sentiment to finish of my card.

Your next stop along the hop is the talented Tina. I know you will not be disappointed.

Maroon ... Poppy ... Soft Jade

Don't forget about the THREE gift certificates that will be given away! One gift certificate will go to a random participant and TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop! You have until May 20, 2013 11:59pm PST to comment and be eligible.

CAS-ual Fridays, Stamp on Designer Paper

Hello, friends!!!! I know that it has been a week since I last posted. A few of you may know that I had a terrible cold recently. In May?! Yes, lucky me. Believe it or not, I am still on the mend and it has been 2 1/2 weeks. Crazy, I know. Last weekend, my twin sister and her family came to visit so we could celebrate our birthday and Mother's Day. Oh, we love any excuse to get together and hang out. So here is a belated birthday shout out, Eva!!!

Happy Birthday!

Okay, enough chit chat. Now onto my card. Today, the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a clean and simple project while stamping on designer paper.

Our fantabulous sponsor this week is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. The winner this week will get to choose a stamp set of their own from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.

For my card, I used some Soft Stone PTI cardstock for my cardbase. Then I stamped my sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Exclamations onto some Lawn Fawn patterned paper. The paper is from the Bright side collection. The striped paper is actually vertical, but I cut it on the diagonal. I added a few sequins to finish it off.

There is so much designer paper out there, so don't just hoard it, but join in on the fun. You have until noon on Thursday to link up and play. I can't wait to see what you create!

DeNami Design Product Spotlight, Garden Bouquet

Today is product spotlight time over at the DeNami Design blog. The design team and I are showcasing Garden Bouquet. You can add this fabulous stamp to your shopping cart and save 10% off of your stamp, for one week only.

I love this stamp!!! It is so elegant that I had to create a card making it the highlight. Lately I have been creating my own cut files for some of my stamps, and I just had to do the same here. I simply colored in my image with copics.

I love the texture of the DeNami white cardstock and how it adds just a touch of interest. By adding the foam adhesive to my image, it really makes it stand out and take center stage. I finished off my card my stamping Happy Mother's Day (cling) for my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by. Please be sure to stop by the rest of the design team blogs to check out their creations.

Happy 2nd Birthday CAS-ual Fridays!!!

That's right! We are celebrating CAS-ual Fridays 2nd birthday. This awesome blog has been around for two wonderful years.

There are so many things that I have to be thankful for this blog. I remember posting my first card to this challenge blog. I had an unused stamped die cut sitting on my table and I needed a thank you card that was mailable. My card came together so easy and then the light bulb went off...I love to create clean and simple cards!!!

The second reason I am thankful for this blog is that Michele offered me my first design team opportunity a year ago. Gosh, have I really been on this awesome team for a whole year? The time has simply flown by, I can hardly believe it.

So this week's challenge celebrates the top 10 challenges of CAS-ual Fridays. The challenge is a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, which was also one of the top 10 challenges. You can create a clean a simple project by simply using a row for your inspiration.

We have some super exciting prizes for the winners of this 2 week challenge. Ellen Hutson is giving away a $25 gift certificate to this week's winner as well as $15 gift certificates to the 4 VIPs.

And not only that, but CAS-ual Fridays Stamps is giving each of the top 5 contenders a gift stamp set as well. If  you don't participate in this 2 week challenge, you've got to be crazy!

For my card, I chose the diagonal line of Birthday, Bling, & Punches/dies. You can never have enough birthday cards on hand, right? I used the birthday sentiment from Casual Elegance. Then I used my Silhouette to die cut the speech bubbles from the Silhouette store (Design #29232). I used the offset feature and flipped them. I finished it off with some rhinestones and popped up the sentiment bubble with foam adhesive.

So, I hope that you find some time to create more than one project from our Tic-Tac-Toe board. You have until midnight on Wednesday, May 15th to link up and play along. Thanks for stopping by!

DeNami Design, Pin-spired May

Happy hump day!!! Today some of the DeNami girls and I are sharing our projects that we created with the gorgeous Pin-spired photo. Sometimes when you see a picture, you know exactly what you want to create. You can head on over to the DeNami Design blog to see what the rest of the design team created.

For my card, I knew immediately that I wanted to use Tweety Bird border and Stitched border. I colored them in with my copics using the colors of the birds from the bottom row. I stamped Sending you Sunshine underneath my stamped image.

That's all for me today. Thanks for stopping by!
