CAS-ual Fridays, For the Girls

Hello friends! I hope you have had a fabulous week so far. Have you had the chance to stop by the  CAS-ual Fridays blog? There have been so many beautiful cards by the Design Team and in the gallery. The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple card that celebrates the women in your life. The winner of this week will not only win a $25 gift certificate from our sponsor, SimonSaysStamp, but will also be our guest designer next month.

Over at  A Muse Studio, they are kicking off their Stamp out Breast Cancer campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness. They are giving away this fabulous set for free. You only have to pay $3 for shipping plus taxes. For my cardbase, I used Blush cardstock. I trimmed up some Venetian patterned cardstock in Burano and layered it with some white and added my sentiment in Burano ink. I finished it off with a gorgeous satin ribbon in Burano as well.

There is also another special giveaway on the CAS-ual Fridays blog. It is a random giveaway for a commenter. I encourage you to check it out. You will definitely want to get in on this. You still have a chance to link up and play with this challenge. The deadline is Thursday at noon.

Now the reason for my card....

This post has been heavy on my heart ever since Michele let the Design Team know about this challenge. I have posted about my friend Gina McReynolds before. My sister shares her story here.  After an almost 2 year battle with breast cancer, my friend Gina went home to be with the Lord on June 29, 2012. She was just 33. She was such an inspiration of strength, faith and courage.

Gina was surrounded by an amazing support system of family and friends. Together, we are TeamGina. Last year we rallied behind her at the Susan G. Komen walk. This year we will do the same in just about 2 weeks.

Here is a picture of Gina with her mother, husband and 3 children at last year's walk. Although she will not be walking with us physically this year, her spirit of faith and courage will lead the way.

The Gina McReynolds foundation was started earlier this year. You can find out more about it here.

Here is a card that I created, especially in her honor. Gina, we will always remember you: your courage, your strength and your faith. We love you!

  2. oh my goodness, there are no words for such a loss, and with 3 babies too. It must mean so much to her family that she has left such a legacy to inspire you all to come out and walk in her name. God bless you and her family. I dropped in to say thank-you for your lovely comments on my blog and to tell you how much I love your CAS cards, that is a gorgeous satin ribbon!
