Happy Birthday, Andy!

Hello friends! I hope you are all doing well. Today I have a card to share with you that I created for my hubby. Today is his birthday. That's right, 9/11. Today is a day of remembrance of what took place 13 years ago, but it is also a day to celebrate. I have been planning on making him his card for quite some time. However, my crafty mojo went on vacation somewhere and hasn't returned. Since I have been on my new medication, it has made me tired. So by the time my day is done, I head to bed instead of my craftroom.



For my card, I used the colors from the current colourQ challenge as inspiration. I did my best to match them. I used PTI's Boy Basics: Rock On for the guitar and the sentiment and stars are from Altenew Faux Veneers. The patterned papers are from gina k designs, CAS-ual Fridays paper pack and aMuse Studio. Since I incorporated these patterned papers, I am also linking up to Virginia's View Challenge.

 

My husband, Andy, has played bass guitar in our church band for over 10 years and he also plays in a rock band, ELEVATORS. They are gearing up for the first EP release which will be available on iTunes 9/30/14. Their album is called Live To Find Out. CAS-ual Fridays, Over the Edge



Whew, another busy week for me on the homefront.  My "normal" evening crafting hours are being taken over by Skyping with my twin sister who is currently in China. She and her family are in the process of adopting their little girl. Oh I cannot wait to meet her in person in less than 2 weeks time.

 

Okay, now onto my card. The first card I have to share today is for CAS-ual Fridays. The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple project that extends beyond the edge.

For my card, I inked up Bold Wishes and Exclamations using the current ColourQ challenge. I absolutely love these bright and bold colors. I used some aquamarine and white twine from DeNami Design's Summer Twine pack.  I diecut some cardstock using Papertrey Ink's angled labels and stamped my sentiment.

 

 

 

 

To assemble my interactive tab, I adhered the front panel using foam tape. I then attached some pieces in a rectangle so the pull out sentiment would fit snugly.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my dear hubby and wonderful father-in-law! I had hope to have this post up and ready to go when the day started, but I actually didn't get to make my hubby's card until this morning. It is a good thing that he is a pretty relaxed guy.

 

 I wanted to share with you the cards that I made these two wonderful men. I used some DeNami yumminess to create their cards.

 

My father-in-law retired 4 years ago. He loves to play golf when he can, so I decided to ink up Golfer chickie and Happy Father's Day and colored it in with my copics. I added some score lines with my Martha Stewart score board to my Leaf green cardstock. Quick and simple and easy to mass produce.

 

For my hubby's card, I inked up Stitched Rectangle in various colors to play along with this week's ColourQ challenge. I also added the same Happy Father's day sentiment that I stamped onto smaller cut rectangles and attached with foam adhesive. I would've restamped my card so there wasn't any smudges, but this card was made last minute and I pretty sure he won't mind.

ColourQ #171

Hello friends! I am popping in with a quick card today. When I saw this week's ColourQ challenge, I knew I had to play along. We will be attending 2 boy birthday parties this weekend and I needed to make these kiddos their birthday cards. This challenge was perfect!

 

 

I used only 1 stamp for this card. It is a sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays, Woot Woot. The panels were run through the cuttlebug using various PTI impression plates. I also die cut the number 8 which was impressed as well. The other card is an exact duplicate except for the number.

Celebrate

Yippee!!!! It's Friday! It's been another long week at work, and my craftroom has been lonely. But today, alas, I got off from work early and spent a little time getting crafty. I whipped up this little birthday card for this week's  ColourQ challenge. I was inpired by Kasia's card.

I did some masking for the first time ever! Can you believe it?! Please do not look too closely at the details. Masking takes away my usual tricks to stamp straight lines. Oh well. I am still pleased with the way it turned out. 

My weekend will be just as busy as this past week, but I hope to post a scrapbook layout I have been trying to work on very soon. Thanks for stopping by!

ColourQ #132 and Make it Monday #61

Well, it's Sunday. Did your weekend go by as fast as mine? Way too fast, in my opinion. Yesterday I shared a card using Besty Veldman's rolled flower technique. It was so much fun, I just had to make another card using them. Today's card is another Mother's Day card using the fabulous colors from this week's ColourQ Challenge. These colors are so bold and pretty, I just had to play along.

Although it is hard to see in the photo, I did use my linen/canvas impression plate on my card base. Did you notice something unusual about my card? My card base is not white! Lately, I have been challenging myself to try new things. You know, get out of my comfort zone. So yes, I am trying to conquer my fear of using colors as my card base. I am also entering this card into this week's Make-it-Monday challenge of making flowers using a non-flower die. It's not good-bye...

...but until next time. Today we had a going away party for one of my co-workers. I created a card using the beautiful spring palette from this week's ColourQ challenge.

I apologize for the bottom portion of the card not being in focus. I was attempting to take a picture of it at 11:45pm last night and we gave her the card this afternoon. I used my new Tiny Tags II. Love that little set. It is choc full of fun little sentiments. Thanks for looking!



Diva

Happy Saturday to everyone! Hope you all had a good week. I have a card to share today for this week's ColourQ Challenge. I fell in love with this inspiration photo.

I had a coworker of mine ask me to make her a card. She simply wanted a card and she happened to want coral and green. She asked for something "Diva". I used my Paisley and Alphalicious cartridges and zero stamping. How did that happen?! I used my Sunshine impression plate. Love that plate! I added glitter, because to me, diva=bling. Enjoy!

ColourQ birthday

Hello friends! Hope you all had a pretty good week. I only had to work 4 days this week, but at almost 40 hours, that made me pretty exhausted in the evening hours, so that explains why the blog has been a little quiet. Last night, I mustered up a little energy to make a card for this week's ColourQ challenge. My daughter has a birthday party to go to tomorrow for a friend in her class. I thought these colors were perfect for a little girl.

You may be wondering where the white is in this card since it apprears very vanilla. Well, I stamped my flower on stamper's select white. It's a little hard to tell since I added a rhinstone, but it's there, promise. Thanks for looking!

ColourQ redo

So, have you ever created a card that you just weren't quite happy with? Well, I decided to sit down and try this week's ColourQ Challenge over again. Here is the beautiful colorful inspiration photo:

This  was my first card, and here is my second card for the challenge. I created it based on this sketch that a bunch of my blog friends used during their Clean & Simple cardmaking class.

*Insert big sigh of relief* Sometimes we just have to start all over again. I am much more pleased with this card. Thanks for bearing with me.

ColourQ #122

Yay, it's Friday! It's been a busy week for me at work and I am thrilled to have today off. What a blessing! I am hanging out at home with my little man. He has an appointment today with his surgeon to make sure that he has healed from his surgery which was 2 weeks ago. It's amazing how time flies and he has done remarkably well.

Last night I started working on my card for this week's ColourQ challenge. I saw this card by Debby Hughes and knew I had to CASE it! I absolutely love this week's colors, but I struggled to make it appear the way I had envisioned. The reason why is because the red and pink don't allow for much contrast. That small pink houndstooth banner used to be a strip of cardstock that ran down the right side of the card. But then all of the other elements seemed to get lost in front of it. Oh well. I still loved her design, so here is my card.

A circle of thanks

I have another thank-you card for the staff that took care of my son during his surgery yesterday. It plays along with this week's ColourQ challenge. He is doing very well. He slept his usual 12 hours requiring no pain medicine. I am so thankful. Any adult that would've had the same surgery would be laid up for a few days. He is smiling, laughing, kicking and very happy.

I love these bright colors and the circles. I CASED this card by Debby Huges. She is so talented and I love her style.

I hope you are having a fabulous weekend. Today's card takes part in several challenges.

The first is for Make-it-Monday. I chose to do glitter strips with score tape.  I never did participate since this was pre-blog days. I added it to some color blocks that are in this week's ColourQ Challenge.

I finished off my card with some chipboard hearts that I made using old cereal boxes that I learned from another Make-it-Monday that I had a blast participating in. This week's CAS-ual Fridays Challenge is to create a project using chipboard.

My hearts were die cut using Heart Prints. I glued together 4 layers using Glossy Accents. I covered the smaller one in glue and added Martha Stewart coarse glitter. Thanks for looking!

ColourQ Challenge #117

Welcome 2012! My first post for the year plays along with the current ColourQ Challenge.

 Now that the Christmas holiday is over, my brain immediately goes into Valentine mode. So when the challenge is black, white and a color of your choice,  my frst color choice was red. I decided to create a Valentines Day card for my hubby. These happen to be the same colors that I used for his card last year.  I used PTIs linen/canvas impression plate and Heart Prints stamp set. I popped up the white cardstock with foam tape and heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. I also dry embossed the black cardstock using my Martha Stewart score board. I attached all three hearts using foam adhesive. Lastly, I added Martha Stewart coarse glitter to the main heart image. Good thing my hubby doesn't mind glitter.
