CAS-ual Fridays, Hunger Games

TGIF!!! It's been quite the busy week for me with work and our second to last week of swimming lessons. This makes for one tired momma by Friday. Whew. I am here today to share a card with you for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge. This week we are to create a clean and simple project using arrows in honor of the movie Hunger Games.

The sponsor for this week's challenge is SimonSaysStamp. The winner of this week's challenge will earn a $25 gift certificate.
For my card, I used my Silhouette to die cut some arrows. I downloaded some free cut files from Daniela Dobson. I resized this arrow and made it a bit smaller. I cut it out on green, blue and orange core-dinations papers and layered them onto my cardfront. I stamped some sentiments from  CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Big Thanks. The design of my card was inspired by this card created by Maile Belles. I am trying to build up some gender neutral thank you cards, and I think this one fits the bill.
Well, that is it for me today. On Sunday, I will get to finally meet my new niece. My sister and her family will be returning from China and I just can't wait. This week's challenge will end early due to the July 4th holiday. You will have until noon on Wednesday to link up and play. I can't wait to see what you create!

DeNami Design, Product Spotlight Tropical Drinks set

Today is product spotlight over at DeNami Design. The design team is showcasing Tropical Drinks by having a DeNami blog hop. You should've arrived to my blog from Lisa Petrella's blog. If you visit each design team members blog and leave a comment along the way, you will be eligible to win this stamp! You can also add this fabulous stamp to your shopping cart and save 10%, one week only.

For my card, I decided to create a set of cards. I used solid cardbases and inked up Three Line Border in matching colors that I stamped on an angle. I am loving using this stamp this way. Then I stamped Sending You Sunshine for my sentiment. I made my own cut files with my Silhouette to match this stamp set. I inked up Tropical Drinks after diecutting and colored it in with my copics in coordinating colors as well. I added some sequins to finish of the card.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave a comment on each blog to be eligible to win!

Wendy is your next stop!

DeNami photo tutorial

Today I have a photo tutorial to share with you over at the DeNami Design blog. You can stamp with almost anything. Head on over to check it out!

CAS-ual Fridays, Over the Edge

Whew, another busy week for me on the homefront.  My "normal" evening crafting hours are being taken over by Skyping with my twin sister who is currently in China. She and her family are in the process of adopting their little girl. Oh I cannot wait to meet her in person in less than 2 weeks time.
Okay, now onto my card. The first card I have to share today is for CAS-ual Fridays. The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple project that extends beyond the edge.
The sponsor this week is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. The winner of this week's challenge will win a stamp set of their choice. Gotta love that!

For my card, I inked up Bold Wishes and Exclamations using the current ColourQ challenge. I absolutely love these bright and bold colors. I used some aquamarine and white twine from DeNami Design's Summer Twine pack.  I diecut some cardstock using Papertrey Ink's angled labels and stamped my sentiment.
To assemble my interactive tab, I adhered the front panel using foam tape. I then attached some pieces in a rectangle so the pull out sentiment would fit snugly.

Remember that you have until noon on Thursday to link up and play. I can't wait to see what you create! Thanks for stopping by!

DeNami Design meets Craft Dash

Hello friends! Today I have a card to share with you for this week's 10 Minute Craft Dash over at Pretty Pink Posh. The sponsor for this challenge is DeNami Design. Several of the design team gals  and I are playing along.
The winner of this challenge will win a $20 gift certificate.

For my card, I was inspired by the challenge logo. I inked up Stitched border and Happy Birthday (cling). Then I die cut my cardstock banners, and attached them to the card front. Lastly I inked up Small Solid Hibiscus and fussy cut it. Even though I have a silhouette cut file I created, I was just too lazy to look for one that was already cut. I attached it with some foam tape. The time it took me to complete my card was 9 minutes and 39 seconds. It would've been less if I didn't have to re-score my card and re-stamp my border. Oh well. The fun part about this challenge was that I created my card alongside my 5 year old daughter, Leah. It was a riot to see us trying to share our materials across 2 different craft tables.

Leah  used the same Happy Birthday sentiment and Stitched Border. She also inked up Fairy Princess chickie, Ballerina chickie, Girl chickie, and Princess Castle and colored them in with colored pencils. She also inked up Double Note. She finished her card in 9 minutes exactly.
The 10 Minute Craft Dash is a huge challenge for me. Even though I create CAS cards, I think I tend to be a bit too analytic. Even my daughter reminds me how she can create quickly because she just goes with the flow. I love learning from her. I hope you find some time to play along this week.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my dear hubby and wonderful father-in-law! I had hope to have this post up and ready to go when the day started, but I actually didn't get to make my hubby's card until this morning. It is a good thing that he is a pretty relaxed guy.
I wanted to share with you the cards that I made these two wonderful men. I used some DeNami yumminess to create their cards.
My father-in-law retired 4 years ago. He loves to play golf when he can, so I decided to ink up Golfer chickie and Happy Father's Day and colored it in with my copics. I added some score lines with my Martha Stewart score board to my Leaf green cardstock. Quick and simple and easy to mass produce.

For my hubby's card, I inked up Stitched Rectangle in various colors to play along with this week's ColourQ challenge. I also added the same Happy Father's day sentiment that I stamped onto smaller cut rectangles and attached with foam adhesive. I would've restamped my card so there wasn't any smudges, but this card was made last minute and I pretty sure he won't mind.
That's it for me today. Thanks for stopping by!

Pages with Papertrey sketch #10 and more

Hi friends! This post has been long awaited. I am finally getting some time to share with you one of the latest pages I created for my son's baby album. I have been playing along with  Leigh's Pages with Papertrey challenge. The first of the month is a technique challenge and the 15th of the month is a sketch challenge. My layout started off with sketch #10. By the time I finished it, I realized that I actually used  challenge 16: combine different elements for your title and challenge 19: use 3 different dies on your layout (bonus points if they are from different collections *wink*)

For my layout, the patterned paper is from the Becky Higgins: Sweet Baby kit. The gray panels are Core-dinations canvas cardstock which appear almost like woodgrain in the photo. The kit comes with a monthly age title and coordinating chipboard circle. Since I was using black and white photos, I opted to create my own using my circle nestie and the number 7 from PTI's By the Numbers die. I sprinkled the inset with some stars from the SuperStar border die.  I used some red washi from Target and the chevron and graph washi are from DeNami Design. For my title, I die cut some Dark Chocolate cardstock using the happy sentiment from Pretty Peonies. I inked up Background Basics: Newsprint in Fresh Snow ink and stamped over it. The word brother is a rub on from the Sweet Baby kit.  I layered the title onto a tag that I die cut using Tag Sale #3. I finished the layout with some buttons and twine.

So much for finishing his baby album before his second birthday which is in just 1 month. I gave it a good effort. Life just gets so busy. I still have 12 more pages to finish to complete it. Maybe I can get it done before school starts up in the fall.

Now that you have made it through most of my post, I wanted to share with you that I was nominated by Stacy over at Sweet Hearts and Sweet Tarts for the Leibster award.

To accept the award, thank the person who gave it to you and link back to their blog.  Post the award on your blog.  Give the award to five other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.  Write a comment on their blog to let them know they have been nominated.
This award is given to:

Lisa over at My Paper Tales.
I have had the pleasure of being on the DeNami Design Team with Lisa these past 6 months. She is the absolute sweetest person. She visits my blog often and her comments are always so heart felt.
Tina over at DeNami Addict
I have also met Tina through my work with DeNami Design. Her blog name describes her perfectly. You will find tons of DeNami products and simply tons of projects on her blog. Her blog is always a busy place.
Xiumaiyki over at xiumaiyuki
You will find her in challenges as Yuki. Her CAS style really catches my eye.
Poorvi at Happy Little Things by Me
Would you believe this when I tell you that she is only in high school?! There is a lot of talent in this young girl.
My last nomination is for my sweet sister, Eva. If it wasn't for her, I would've never started my own blog, or even know how to do it. She blogs about her life and family (and mine) often. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation!

CAS-ual Fridays, Mapquest

Hello friends! Well, it's the end of the work for me. A big change from last week. I had missed a couple of days due to some eye troubles. But this week was a full week for sure. I have a card to share with you for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge. This week the challenge is to create a clean and simple project using a travel theme or something on the map or things that go.

The fabulous sponsor this week is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. The winner of this week's challenge will win a stamp set of their choice.

For my card, I started off with a karft cardbase. The map image and red sentiment I cut out from some patterned paper. It is SEI and from the same Mayberry collection. The car button is also from the collection. I added some red graph washi from DeNami Design and finished it off with a sentiment that was left over from this card.

Thanks for stopping by! You have until noon on Thursday to link up and play.

DeNami Design, Product Spotlight Starry Burst

Today is product spotlight time over at the DeNami Design blog. The design team and I are showcasing Starry Burst (cling). You can add this fabulous stamp to your shopping cart and save 10% off of your stamp, for one week only.

When you first see this stamp image, you may think of any of the patriotic holidays, but it can be used for so much more. To me, stars evoke some kind of celebration. So I decided to create a birthday card.  Now I did you patriotic colors to color my images, but you can color them in any color. I used Happy Birthday script (cling) for my sentiment which I repeated across the cardfront. A quick and easy one layer card.

Thanks for stopping by! Please make sure you stop by the DeNami Design blog to see what the rest of the design team has created. I know you will not be disappointed.

DeNami Design Patterned Paper blog hop

Welcome to the DeNami Design Patterned Paper blog hop. I am the last stop along the hop. I hope you have enjoyed the fabulous inspiration along the way. You should've arrive here from La-Vie Borde-Perry's blog. If not, you can always head back to the  beginning for a full list of participants.

For my card, I started off using some white cardstock for my card base. Then I fussy cut some hibiscus and leaves from a sheet of patterned paper from my Tropical Splash sampler pack and adhered it to my card front. These florals have been beautifully illustrated by Nami. Gorgeous I tell ya! I added Sending You Sunshine for my sentiment and then wrapped some Spring green and white twine from my Spring twine pack. I finished it off with some sequins.

Don't forget about the THREE gift certificates that will be given away! One gift certificate will go to a random participant and TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop! You have until June 10, 2013 11:59pm PST to comment and be eligible.
Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays, Banners and Flags

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a good week. Mine has been a bit unusual. A week ago, I started to experience some eye trouble. Conjunctivitis along with another eye issue makes life a bit miserable. I am thankful that I am feeling mostly better, however, it's hard to feel like you have accomplished much of anything when you simply can't see. Sigh. Thanks for listening.
So now for the real reason you stopped by. Today I have a card to share with you for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: create a clean and simple project using banners or flags.

The winner of this week's challenge will win a $25 gift certificate to Ellen Hutson.

This week's challenge over at Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday is to create a flag border. I think I haven't played along in over a year *gulp*. So I was super excited to combine these challenges. For my card I used my double ended banner die and banner builder die collection. Instead of using patterned paper, I chose to stamp on cardstock. I used Background Basics: Houndstooth, Background Basics: Newsprint, and Boy Basics: Grunge Me on the banners.  The splatter is also from Grunge Me. I added my sentiment from Birthday Basics. The final touch was adding some green graph washi from DeNami Design. Now, I do not own any yellow washi tape, so I created it using a previous Make It Monday: Custom stamped washi tape tutorial. Unfortunately it is not respositional like original washi tape, but it is great to create something when you do not have it in your stash.

Well, that's it for me for today. Remember that you have until noon on Thursday to link up and play. I can't wait to see what you create! Literally. Thanks for stopping by!

DeNami Design, Pinspired June

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a good week so far. Today I have a card to share with you that was created by this fantastic DeNami Pin-spired image. Ack, I just love it!

I took my inspiration from the colors in the photo, the striped ship mast and of course the darling cake pops. I used my spray mist tutorial template and did some distressing to add the blue and green to the cardbase. I layered another white panel on top with some red and aquamarine twine. I inked up Small Solid Circle in various colors and added Happy Birthday (cling) for my sentiment.

Don't forget to head on over to the DeNami Design blog to see what the rest of the design team created. Thanks for stopping by!

A New Smile

In my post yesterday, I shared about my daughter having a wiggly tooth. It has been ever so slightly wiggly for about 9 months now. I mean, ever so slightly. Well, after eating a freeze pop at her summer camp, yesterday, it fell out with a little help. Honestly, I thought we would have at least a couple of days before it came out. I guess Sunday's ice pop incident had it barely hanging on and she couldn't eat her normal cereal yesterday morning.
So after picking up the kids in the afternoon and Josh's swim lesson, I snapped a few photos of Leah's new smile, messy hair and all. Some of her smiles are cheesy and some are not. It's hard to get a natural smile and still capture the missing tooth.

I know this photo chops off Joshua in the background, but I do love her precious smile.

And of course, I have to share some pics of Josh, post swimming lesson and dum dum lollipop. He is pointing at the football he threw between the porch and bushes.
Yes, he desperately needs a hair cut. I am aware. He has had at least 7 hair cuts and he is only 22 months old. It is hard to keep up with it. Don't fret, we will get it cut soon.
Stay tuned to the blog. Tomorrow I will be sharing a card for DeNami's Pin-spired post.

DeNami summer card and a skirt

Hi friends! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. My sister and her gang came over to my neck of the woods for some shopping on Saturday, so we met up with them for some lunch and hang time. The cousins always have a blast when they are together.

Today I have a card to share over at the DeNami Design blog, Here is a little peek. I have been having some fun with my Silhouette, so you will want to head over and check it out.
I also wanted to share a quick little project I made last week. A couple of weeks ago, I picked up some fabric on sale from Hobby Lobby. It's not super pricey to begin with and it was 30% off. I think my total cost was less than $4. So I made my daughter a lazy day skirt, no pattern required. I had hoped to snap some photos of the process, but just didn't get to do it. Maybe the next time I make her another one. My sister has made this skirt in less than 1 1/2 hours which included trimming her fabric. I told her that I think the longest time spent on this skirt is trimming your fabric straight and trying to get the best measurement for the elastic waitband for the little waist it will go around. It is really that simple. I made it below the knee length so she can wear it for 2 seasons.

Well, that it is for me today. I do have some fabric for the next skirt that I will be making for Leah. It does require a bit more work, but I do hope to start working on that soon. I also have 2 layouts from Joshua's baby album to share with you, too. Oh, and any time this week, my little girl will lose her first tooth. I guess it gets a bit more wiggly if you eat an ice pop which is pretty much ice. Please stop growing up so fast!!!
