Pages with Papertrey #12

Happy hump day!!! I hope you are having a good week so far. I have finally gotten around to sharing the second page of a 2 page layout for my son's baby album. All of the elements are from the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby kit except the patterned paper used for the title and journaling.

This layout was created for Pages with Papertrey challenge #12. I also modified a previous sketch #4 for my layout.  For challenge #12, we are to make a title using patterned paper. There are some aplha stickers and rub ons that come with the kit, but they were either too big or too small for what I wanted. So I decided to cut out my title using my Silhouette. The patterned paper is from Papertrey Ink's Library Ledger collection and the sentiment is design id#9425. I cut it twice also using some of the blue grid paper from the kit to give it a shadow effect. I have seen Nichol Magourik use this technique all the time and it really gives it some depth. I used the same patterned paper to journal on. The arrows were also cut with my Silhouette design id#20270. I added some glossy accents (which unfortnately you cannot see in the photo) and popped them up with foam adhesive.

The middle arrow in the layout is pointing to the reflection in the ornament. I wanted to include this photo in my son's baby album because at this age, he still took 3 naps a day. So after I picked him up from daycare, he would snuggle up in the carrier and I would get a bit of crafting done. As you can tell by the Christmas tree, this was around the holidays, which we all know is a busy time. He is the little black blob in the center of the ornament.

I have the next two pages I am working on for his album laid out on the scrap table already. Fingers crossed for some time to actually work on putting them together. Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink January blog hop

Good afternoon friends! This is my second post for the day. Please scroll down for my CAS-ual Fridays post.

Today is the 25th of the month which means that it is time for the Papertrey Ink blog hop. There is always an awesome challenge and this month is no different. Create a card using black. Here is our inspiration photo:

I was inspired by the bottom right photo, using bold geometrics. I decided that I would use Framed Out #1 and a bit of Mister Huey shine. This was my first time using this bottle and I must say that I am in love. I picked the right challenge to try using it . I had expected that it might be more clear, but instead is appears a shimmery silver on black cardstock. The sentiment is also from Framed Out #1. I diecut a piece of True Black cardstock and used the inner piece to stamp my sentiment. I heat embossed it in white. I glued that piece down and then attached the frames randomly with foam adhesive. This entire piece was then attached to a black card base.

(Please excuse the poor quality of the black cardbase. I do not have a lightbox or an 18% gray card to help when photographing my cards. Trust me when I say that it is True Black in person.)

I hope you are finding lots of inspiration. I have already spied a bunch of beauties in the gallery. Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays, Make your mark

Happy Friday friends! I have a card to share with you for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge. It's time to break out your markers and create a clean and simple project. This week's sponsor is Crafter's Companion. The winner for this week will win an awesome Spectrum Noir prize.

I do not consider myself an expert at using markers whatsoever. So please do not feel intimidated. I love CAS-ual Fridays stamps and thought it would be fun to ink up the new set Rad using the outline sentiments. One must have a steady hand when coloring those letters!

I used my copics and breathed a huge sigh of relief when I finished. The cardstock is from Papertrey Ink and I used my woodgrain impression plate on the kraft card base. I attached my stamped sentiments with washi tape from DeNami.

Thanks for stopping by! You have until noon on Thursday to link up and play. I can't wait to see what you create!

Pages with Papertrey sketch#11

So, if you follow my blog, you know that I have been trying to catch up on my littlest one's baby album. I had started  blogging when he was only 6 weeks old and Leigh over at to the full had also just started Pages with Papertrey. We have 2 challenges a month: a crafty challenge at the beginning and then a sketch challenge in the middle of the month. I was thrilled because I knew that I would use these challenges to help me get up to date on my daughter's school album and work on my son's baby album. I was able to keep up with the monthly challenges until my baby started crawling, and then all crafting during daylight hours went out the window.

As most of you may also heard me say, I am not the quickest crafter out there. This is especially true of scrapbooking. I feel like it is a big comittal thing. My children will have these pages forever, so of course I want to make them the best that I can. I will typically have papers and pictures laid out and play around with them and stare quite a bit while I work on other cards or projects.

So with the start of the new year, I have set a goal for myself to finish his album. This means that I have 2-3 pages to complete every month. So far I am on track. This page is part of a 2 page layout. The other is just waiting to be glued down, so you will see it before the month is over.

I am submitting this page for Pages with Papertrey sketch#11. The patterned paper, stickers, ribbon, photo corners, overlay and chipboard are from the Becky Higgins Sweet Baby kit. I created a journaling block using Label Basics and Library Card. I did use Kraft ink on kraft cardstock using Mini Scrapbook series: Library Ledger to make some patterned paper. I tried to add different embellishments on the corners of the picture, but nothing I did turned out like I had hoped. Since the chipboards had some sentiments on them, I left it alone.

CAS-ual Fridays, So cool

Happy Monday! Are you ready for the week? Today I have a card to share showcasing some of the new and fabulous CAS-ual Fridays stamps. I have been playing around with my Silhouette and I created my card using the Chevron life card cut file (Design #31013). I die cut the stars using my cuttlebug and stamped over them using the new RAD set and the background image from Countdown.
The sentiment is also from the new Rad set. I added some ribbon tabs and popped it up on foam tape. Pretty simple.

CAS-ual Fridays, Long and Short

Hi friends! I hope you have had a good week and have been inspired by all of the sneak peeks for the new release this month for CAS-ual Fridays stamps. I have had fun playing with all of them. I have a card to share today for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge. This week the challenge is to create a card that has one long side and one short side.

For my card, I knew right away that I wanted to ink up Truth Is. The long stem would be perfect for the card. I intended for my card to be 6x3 until I realized that the cardstock I was going to mat my stamped image to was only 11 inches long before scoring it. Oh well. It still has one long and one short side. I used my copics to color it in. The cardstock and ribbon are Amuse studio.

Thanks for stopping by! You have until noon on Thursday to link up and play along. Can't wait to see your long or short creations!

DeNami Wonderful Washi blog hop

Welcome to the DeNami Design blog hop. I hope you are having a wonderful, inspirational time. You should've arrived to my blog from the talented Pattie. If not, you can head back to the beginning for a full list of participants.

The theme for this month's blog hop is washi tape. It has been one of the latest trends in the crafting industry and DeNami now carries their own stock of washi yumminess. I am fairly new to using washi, but have fallen in love with it and have used it on a few projects in the last couple of months.

For my card, I CASED myself from this card. I really liked how I layered it onto the cardstock to create and background, almost like a piece of patterned paper. I wanted to use a big focal image and so I inked up Camera and the sentiment is from Petite Fours Heartfelt Greetings. I have had these two stamps for a while and have tried to pair them together unsuccessfully in the past. I came across previous DeNami DT, Laurie Willison's post here and thought that it was quite clever of her to stamp the sentiment inside the image. I am going to have to try this technique more often.

Your next stop along the hop is Diana. I can't wait to see what she has created!

Don't forget about the THREE $20 gift certificates that will be given away! One gift certificate will go to a random participant and TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop! You have until January 14, 2013 11:59pm PST to comment and be eligible.

CAS-ual Fridays, Round of applause

Hi friends! TGIF! Today I have a card to share with you for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge. The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple card celebrating an accomplishment. Your card must include at least one circle. Fun challenge, right?

For my card, I did some color blocking with different shades of green cardstock that I adhered  to a white cardbase. Then I ran it through my cuttlebug to die cut the circle. I adhered it to the cardbase and then stamped my sentiment.

I can't wait to see what you create. Remember that you have until noon on Thursday to join in the fun.

ColourQ #171

Hello friends! I am popping in with a quick card today. When I saw this week's ColourQ challenge, I knew I had to play along. We will be attending 2 boy birthday parties this weekend and I needed to make these kiddos their birthday cards. This challenge was perfect!

I used only 1 stamp for this card. It is a sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays, Woot Woot. The panels were run through the cuttlebug using various PTI impression plates. I also die cut the number 8 which was impressed as well. The other card is an exact duplicate except for the number.

That's is for me. Thanks for stopping by!

DeNami Design Garden Elegance sneak peeks

Hello friends! Today starts the beginning of sneak peeks for DeNami Design. The collection that the design team is showcasing is Garden Elegance.

My first card uses Garden Bouquet. This makes a great bouquet of flowers to say thank you to someone.

Next up, I stamped Garden Bunch and created a monochromatic bouquet. Again, who wouldn't love flowers for their birthday?

Lastly, I stamped Flower Bloom several times. I added some Coral ribbon and a sentiment tag. Flowers are a perfect way to send a hug and show someone you care.

Kanani and Dana are also sharing their fabulous creations with Garden Elegance. DeNami really goes out of their way with the new sneak peeks. There will be multiple giveaways. You can increase your chances to win by leaving comments on each design team members posts and stopping by the DeNami Design blog and leaving a comment as well.

CAS-ual Fridays, Thanks

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you have all recovered from the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Today's card that I have to share is for CAS-ual Fridays. Our challenge this week is to create a clean and simple thank you card. The winner of this week's challenge will not only win a $25 gift certificate from Ellen Hutson but will also earn the spot of guest designer next month.

During some of my time off for the holidays, I was able to play around some with my Silhouette Cameo. My teammate, Laurie, gave me some advice to take the online card class A Cut Above. This class was awesome and I am so thankful I took it. For my card, I CASED this card from Laurie. I just love that Limeade Ice she used for her cardbase. I've got to get me some of that. I used some PTI patterned paper and the darker shade of brown is K and Company.

I can't wait to see what you create this week. You have until noon on Thursday to link up and play!

Happy New Year!

This is my first post for 2013 and it also happens to be my very first post as this week's CASology guest designer.

To start of the new year, this week's cue card is:

For my card, I chose to keep it as close as I could to one layer. I used the double circle image from CAS-ual Fridays Big Thanks and the sentiment from Countdown. I added the bling because...well, when ringing in the New Year, you've got to have bling *wink*.

Thanks for stopping by! I can't wait to see what you create with this week's cue card!
