Boo...

Today I have a couple of things to share with you. First, I have a Halloween banner that I created for the latest Papercrafts submission for Home decor for all seasons. I opted to make a Halloween banner. The good news for me (not the rejection of course) is that this pretty little number is hanging in my house for this Halloween season.

Secondly, I am sharing the little treats that I made for my daughter's kindergarten class. I used a Martha Stewart recipe to make these little bones. Unfortunately the first batch was a little overcooked. The second batch, which sat in the bowl waiting to be piped, lost its stiffness. Oh well. I do not think these little 5 years will care much about the appearance.

I just the love the Friendly Mummy and Friendly Ghost images from DeNami. They are just so stinkin' cute for fun little Halloween projects. I fussy cut all of the images. Fortnately I only had to create 18 treat bags. I used some Papertrey Ink patterned paper for the circle and some Halloween ribbon I picked up at Michaels. I embossed the clear bags with my Swiss Dots embossing folder as well. It is all stuck together using my ATG. Here are just a few.

Tonight we will be trick- or- treating. I had hoped that I might snatch photos of my kiddos in costume this weekend so I could have photos to share, but I didn't. Fingers crossed I am able to take some decent photos tonight. I did make most of Leah's costume. Believe it or not, I tried some of it on her while she was sleeping. You'll just have to wait and see who she is dressed as...

For a friend

Since it is still October, this card is pretty appropriate. I was at a nursing conference Friday where I saw my old unit educator. We no longer work for the same company, but the last 2 years we have been able to meet and catch up. She always asks me about my kiddos and is super, super sweet. Unfortunately, she shared with me that she was just diagnosed with breast cancer. This news just plain stinks. The only positive thing is that it was detected early. My heart is heavy for you and what lays ahead. You are a strong woman!

 Love you, Terri!

DeNami fun and CAS(E) this Sketch #3

Hope you are having a fabulous Saturday. In my neck of the woods, we having been dealing a bit with Hurricane Sandy. Yesterday was pretty windy and lots of rain bands, and today is just overcast with wind. That makes it kind of difficult to photograph cards since I take pictures outside on my porch.

This morning, my daughter, Leah, and I had some crafty time together. I told her to pick out stamps to use, starting with the sentiment. She chose Baby Script. Hence, she decided to make a baby card. She then selected the rest of her stamps. I reminded her that she could only use enough stamps that would fill up her card, so she had to put a few back. We attempted to use my stamp-a-ma-jig. She was so stinkin' cute. She actually misaligned it, but it turned out in her favor because it gave her more room to stamp her larger images. To complete her card she used Polka Dot Elephant, Giraffe, Brushed Present, and Baby Jesus. I loved her rational for using Baby Jesus, "It's a baby card. It has to have baby Jesus." So precious, I tell ya.

So after she finished her card, I worked a little on the treat bags that she will give her classmates for Halloween. I will have those to share on the blog soon since I have to bake the goodies in the over. Fingers crossed that they turn out. I decided to use one of the left over images to create a card for CAS(E) this Sketch! I can't tell you how long I have been wanting to play along, so this left over piece worked perfectly.

I used Friendly Mummy (cling) along with some Papertrey Ink paper and dies for the focal point. I used Happy Halloween for the sentiment.

Papertrey Ink blog hop

It's that time of the month again for the Papertrey Ink blog hop. This month's challenge is a non-tradtional color challenge for Christmas. I chose this pretty palette of Smokey Shadow, Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist and Soft Stone.

These colors are so soft and soothing. Boy am I excited to have at least one Christmas card made and it is only October!

For my card, I used Soft Stone for the card base. Then I die cut some Stamper's Select White and Aqua Mist cardstock using Angled Labels. I inked up Background Basics: Text Style with Ocean Tides ink. I die cut a Peace Be Still snowflake and added some Martha Stewart Coarse glittler. The sentiment is from Signature Christmas inked up in Smokey Shadow. I finished it off with some Ocean Tides grosgrain ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop!!!

DeNami Product Spotlight, Give Thanks Circle

Hello friends! Today is product spotlight time over at the DeNami Design blog. The design team is showcasing Give Thanks Circle. It is the perfect stamp to use to create the focal point of your card, treat bag or whatever you may be crafting.

For my card, I paired the sentiment circle with the Turkey image. Don't they go together so well? Love that! I colored the turkey image with my copics and then added a strip of Desert Orange cardstock which I stamped Wheat Stalks with cream ink.

CAS-ual Fridays sneek peek, Truth Is

Woo-hoo! Today I get to share a card with you that I created using my very first CAS-ual Fridays stamps created by the fabulous Michele Gross. It has taken a lot of self control not to spill the beans for the longest time. I'm telling ya, it was super hard. If you've visited the store blog then you have already seen some fabulous creations by the Girl Fridays and some special guests. They have given you some peeks for all of the stamps that will be available for purchase on October 26th. You also have a chance to win each of the stamps sets that have been featured if you leave comments each day. Don't worry if you haven't commented yet. The winners will be picked after all of the peeks are done. So head on back to each sneek peek day for your chance to win.

My card is showcasing some of the stamps that you can find in the Truth Is stamp set. This flower image is so striking, isn't it?

The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple project with an element that extends past the card base. I created a celebratory card that you could give to a boy or girl.

Can I get a woot woot?

CAS-ual Fridays, Put Your {Heart} into It

Hello friends! I hope you are having a fabulous week so far. I know that there is a lot of buzzing going around at the CAS-ual Fridays blog. Any guesses as to what the big announcement will be? You surely won't want to miss out, so I suggest that you head on over.

The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple project with a heart in it.

Our fabulous sponsor this week is i {heart} papers.

For my card I used Heart Prints by Papertrey Ink. I think it was the third stamp set I ever bought. The "love you" sentiment is actually from Fillable Frames #10. I adhered the hearts with a 2 way glue pen before I stitched them onto my cardfront. Thankfully it only took one attempt.

There is still time to play along this week. You have until noon on Thursday to link up. Can't wait to see what you create!

Today is Product Spotlight over at DeNami Design. The talented design team is showcasing Three Houses over at the DeNami Design blog. You can add this fabulous stamp to your shopping cart and save 10%, one week only!

For my card, I used Amethyst cardstock. I really love this color when creating goodies for Halloween.  I embossed the chevrons in clear from Modern Borders (cling) onto some black cardstock. I stamped Three Houses, Teeny Star, and Happy Halloween onto white cardstock in black ink. I really like the simplicity of this little Halloween scene.

CAS-ual Fridays, For the Girls

Hello friends! I hope you have had a fabulous week so far. Have you had the chance to stop by the  CAS-ual Fridays blog? There have been so many beautiful cards by the Design Team and in the gallery. The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple card that celebrates the women in your life. The winner of this week will not only win a $25 gift certificate from our sponsor, SimonSaysStamp, but will also be our guest designer next month.

Over at  A Muse Studio, they are kicking off their Stamp out Breast Cancer campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness. They are giving away this fabulous set for free. You only have to pay $3 for shipping plus taxes. For my cardbase, I used Blush cardstock. I trimmed up some Venetian patterned cardstock in Burano and layered it with some white and added my sentiment in Burano ink. I finished it off with a gorgeous satin ribbon in Burano as well.

There is also another special giveaway on the CAS-ual Fridays blog. It is a random giveaway for a commenter. I encourage you to check it out. You will definitely want to get in on this. You still have a chance to link up and play with this challenge. The deadline is Thursday at noon.

Now the reason for my card....

This post has been heavy on my heart ever since Michele let the Design Team know about this challenge. I have posted about my friend Gina McReynolds before. My sister shares her story here.  After an almost 2 year battle with breast cancer, my friend Gina went home to be with the Lord on June 29, 2012. She was just 33. She was such an inspiration of strength, faith and courage.

Gina was surrounded by an amazing support system of family and friends. Together, we are TeamGina. Last year we rallied behind her at the Susan G. Komen walk. This year we will do the same in just about 2 weeks.

Here is a picture of Gina with her mother, husband and 3 children at last year's walk. Although she will not be walking with us physically this year, her spirit of faith and courage will lead the way.

The Gina McReynolds foundation was started earlier this year. You can find out more about it here.

Here is a card that I created, especially in her honor. Gina, we will always remember you: your courage, your strength and your faith. We love you!

World Card Making Day- The creative process of a 5 year old

Hello friends! I hope everyone has had a fabulous week. Work for me wasn't too busy, so I managed to sneak in some time making my daughter's Halloween costume. I am happy with how it is turning out so far. The main part of her costume is something that I have never tried before and it doesn't even require sewing. She tells me that she loves it! **insert happy dance**.

I have a little more news before I get on with this post. Over at the DeNami Design blog there are a couple of announcements. There are two new videos, a new glitter package and a new product. Wondering what it is? Then head on over to the blog to find out. And what would World Card Making Day be without a DeNami party and giveaway. There is a lot of fun going on this weekend. You can check out all of the world wide DeNami crafting on the DeNami facebook page. Can't wait to see what you create!

So this morning, my daughter and I spent a little bit of time creating a Halloween card for her teacher. She absolutely loves some of my smaller DeNami stamps. They are so perfect for her little, crafty, 5 year old fingers.  We used some of her own inks. Yes, she received them for Christmas 2 years ago. This girl loves to join me in my craftroom and create.

I let her pick out her favorites.

And what else would a 5 year old do while she is waiting for you to get the rest of the supplies out, but build a tower.

I instructed her to try and design her card first, before she inked up the stamps.

And off she went.

I love how she is checking her stamp to make sure that it has enough ink.

I did try to encourage her to use fall colors, but when a little girl loves pink, you just have to go with it. As you can see, she didn't even use my stamp-a-ma-jig to create her card. Way to go, Leah!

Now, all she had left to do was color her images.

And here is the artist with her card.

A final picture of her card which she finished off with some hand drawn stars. I love creating with her!!!

CAS-ual Fridays, Toot your own horn

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far. Today I have a super fun card to share with you. It may look a bit familar. That's because the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays this week is to create a clean and simple project inspired by your very own blog header.

This challenge was pretty easy for me since I had changed up my blog header several months ago to reflect my clean and simple style.  The alphas were die cut using PTI's Block Alphabet and the sentiment is from Birthday Basics. I masked out the happy. The mini circles were made with my hole puncher. As always, thanks for stopping by and leaving some love. You have until noon on Thursday to link up and play. Can't wait to see what you create!

DeNami Color Challenge #11

Hello friends! Today I have a card to share with you for this month's DeNami Design challenge. This time it is a fabulous color challenge created by Deanna. These are such beautiful warm colors.

For my card, I used Leaf Green cardstock for the base and Cream cardstock for the focal point. I stamped Rosebud Trio in brown ink and colored it in with my copics. I also stamped Thinking of you script (cling) in brown ink as well. The panel was finished off with some saddle stitch ribbon. I used an old sketch that I came across from  Clean and Simple sketch. Thanks for stopping by!
